This professional development workshop series is designed for upper elementary, middle, high school, and preservice science teachers interested in learning new strategies for inspiring students with relevant and exciting new research being conducted at CSU.

Each session will include:

• Time to explore a featured hands-on STEM kit that is avail- able for loan.

• Time to eat a provided pizza dinner and discuss ways to translate scientific content into hands-on activities that bring excitement into the classroom.

• A concise presentation from a research scientist associated with the featured kit.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

• Facilitate hands-on curriculum that is student centered.

• Connect several hands-on experiences into a “story arc” that explores a current real world problem.

• Complement standards by engaging students with curricu- lum tied to relevant research.

Cost: None, but space is limited to 20

Optional Credit: 1 natural science graduate continuing education credit is available courtesy of the NSEOC and requires regular attendance, the use of a set of kits in your classroom, and a 1-page reflection.
