KAHO Paper Model

DSC0134

Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park in Hawai'i is an ideal place to study the underground interaction of salt water and fresh water. This simple paper model illustrates the hidden water in three dimensions.

Remember that freshwater floats on top of the denser salt water.

Question: What happens if you pump too much freshwater out of the ground in the highlands?
